FGLB was created as part of a strategic partnership between FGB and the Government of Libya's economic and social development (ESDF). FGLB has an authorized capital of 400 million, which was presented by the two FGB and as ESDF. PUC to FGLB is 200 million, making it one of the largest banks currently in Libya.

    The opening ceremony was attended by Mr Hamed El Houderi, CEO and President of FGLB ESDF, Abdul Hamid Saeed, General Manager and Vice FGLB and Mr Abdelrazek Elhoush, General FGLB.

    Mr. Saeed Abdul Hamid said at the inauguration, and said..     Commenting at the opening, Mr Abdelrazek Elhoushsaid, "The power that is opened at the Rixos Hotel is the first office outside the headquarters of the First Gulf Bank to open in Tripoli Libya."

    He added: .. "This is just the beginning, we are actively looking for other places where you can open branches in the city of Tripoli outside the capital, we are trying to branch in Benghazi and Misurata to open in the near future, we we hope to have a full banking service to provide for our customers in Libya. "
