Beyonce Run The World Video

Thursday, May 19, 2011

Most of you know by now that I'm a huge Beyonce fan. This past year has been pretty torturous for me since she was kind of MIA, so I went a little crazy when her new single “Run the World (Girls)” finally debuted! Since then, she’s been everywhere, and I am so not complaining. Her new album cover is AMAZE:

Last night during American Idol, she premiered the video for the single, and it has everything you could possibly want from a Bey video: a gorgeous set, amazing dance moves (that I'm sure we'll be seeing popping up all over YouTube), tons of high fashion, and Beyonce riding an effing horse. BAMF. And as always, the best part about the song—which is only enhanced with the visual--is the message of girl power. Taking on an all-male police squad, Bey and her army of girls challenge authority and destroy any notion of women being inferior. My favorite scene? When immediately after singing "Boy I'm just playing / Come here baby / I hope you still like me" and writhing on the ground, she switches it up by ending with "F you, pay me!" and flips off the camera.
Okay, okay, enough of the social commentary; how amazing was her wardrobe?! Bey donned everything from couture Givenchy and Alexander McQueen to Gareth Pugh and Pucci—I don’t even think I can pick a favorite look. And the dancing, OMG. I’m sorry, but after watching this video, there is no way you can argue that she's not the best pop star out there.
Though I’m a Bey stan through and through, I am willing to admit that the song itself isn’t my favorite of hers, but the video has definitely taken it to a new level for me. I can't wait to see it live! Speaking of which, have you seen the pictures of Bey performing on Oprah!? CANNOT WAIT FOR NEXT WEEK. I have a feeling the Beyonce-mania isn’t going away any time soon, and I couldn’t be happier. Now I’m just crossing my fingers that she makes it to MTV in the next few months…
