London New Years Day Parade

Hundreds of thousands of people welcomed the New Year with a bang in 2011, packing the streets to the spectacular fireworks light up the sky over London and Edinburgh to see.

 
Estimated 250 000 revelers gathered around the London Eye for the big fireworks display in the capital, while about 80,000 visitors, the annual festival of Hogmanay in Edinburgh.

 
And the celebrations are waiting with half a million people out of Westminster for the parade New Year's Day 25 continued to meet.

 
The Metropolitan Police had 3,000 police deployed, said 77 people arrested during New Year's Eve in London. Most (24) were for public order, while 16 revelers were arrested for assault and five for sexual crimes.
